MSP_EpmResourceByDay table issue

Hi Everyone,

I've come across the issue with Project Server Reporting DB, MSP_EpmResourceByDay table precisely speaking. The maximal TimeByDay value there is '2011-08-31'. So there's no data for the current month. I checked this on another Project Server's Reporting DB, and the maximal date there happened to be '2012-08-31'.

Does anyone have any idea why the data in MSP_EpmResourceByDay can be limited to Aug 31? Is there any documentation in respect of this?

connect or chain 2 or more custom fields

Hello,

I have to solve this:

for our project we need several possibilities to sort, filter, ...

that´s why we defined many custom fields with lookup tables behind. But the lookup tables don´t work like we need it. So I have a new idea and i give an example

one field/table I define the type (1) what has to be produced, like: car, bike, truck, train

the second field/table (2) contains properties of the products, like: red, green, blue, white

the I define a third field, and there i can combine (1) and (2), like (1)[space](2) or (2)[space](1) - so that way like everybody is used to read it

the tables and fields (project) of (1) and (2) are the problem i have

for (3) it defined the field, and use formula like [1]&[2] and there was no error message

and i created as well (4) to roll down the information on task level

but when I add (3) in the detail page of the project or (4) in the summary task view - i can´t see a value.

Any hint for me?

Security Permissions are not applied when granted to a user

Hi All,

Am using Project Server 2016 on Premise, i have switched from Sharepoint security mod to project server security mode. i added users to Project managers predefined group however the end users are not being able to create projects, i tried to move them from project managers to admin group, same permissions keep on showing.

i appreciate your support on this since we are not being able to start filling the project.

Error WorkflowCannotChangeWorkflow

Hi,

I'm trying to migrate from 2010 to Project Server 2013. I have migrated all the projects to a test environment and now I'm still investigating if it is working well in the new environment.

Regarding the Projects migrated, when I try to change/restart workflow I allways get this error:

Your WorkflowChangeWorkflow job failed.Its current state is FailedNotBlocking.It was 0% complete.It entered the queue at 10/15/2013 15:54:28.

To get more information about the job failure, please go to Project Web App.Select Personal Settings from the left menu.Then select My Queued Jobs.

The errors returned from the queue are as follows:
 Error ID: 35109
 Error ID: 26000

Detailed error below - send it to the administrator for more detailed troubleshooting.

You can do the following:
1. Try troubleshooting using the error IDs, error XML.
2. Contact administrator with your jobID (a94d844e-a135-e311-9403-0050568f5a17) and error XML.

This error doesn't appear if it is a project created in 2013, it seems that in this case it is working well.

Do you know what is happening or where can I find information about this issue?

Migrate local calendars

Hi,

I use local custom calendar created in MS Project professional, when I publish those projects, I get error stating, "Enterprise calendars are needed". But in MS Project server, I have selected "Allow projects to use local base calendars", in additional server settings. Also when I created the calander I selected "Add to enterprise" in change working time. 

I still get the same error, "Enterprise calendars are needed". Am I missing out something or there is someother way to publish a project with custom calendar?

Can I remove the Strategic Impact link for team member in the schedule view?

We are using Project 2013, Professional and Server, but not Project Online at this time. When a team member goes into the Project Center and clicks on a schedule to view it (in PWA not Professional), they can still see the Strategic Impact link in the left hand side menu. Removing the link from the Quick Launch menu just removes it from the main pages, not the schedule view. Is there any way to remove just the Strategic Impact link so that team members don’t even have it as an option to click on?

I am trying to publish a project with local calendars, but when I use import wizard, I am able to map local resources to enterprise resources, but when there is a local resource and if I want to keep it local, I have an option to map the local calendar, but when there is no local resource and I have to map a local calendar, what should I do?

If I do not map, I get error stating "Enterprise calendars are needed".

Please help me with this situation.

Chrome randomly unable to open MS Project from Project Center

I am using PWA (like Project Server) and like to open up my projects from the Project Center.  Project center randomly fails to open the project when I click on the icon next to the project name.  It gives the error "Sorry, we were unable to open your project.  Please try again.  If this happens again, contact your administrator."  

When I open the project by opening MS Project and clicking "Open/Project Online (under Project Web App)/Browse/Show me the list of all project/(Then select the project)  It always work.

Why does the first one fail, and what can I do to stop it.    The funny thing is the first way works about half the time, and I have not discerned a reason when it fails and when it works.  I think things that fail start working again after a while.....

MS Project PWA: add task name to project center overview

Hello

in PWA Project Center I have as Project Leader the overview about several Projects.

There are several columns which give me information.

For me - one is missing: i would like to see in this overview the task(s) or resource(s) which is/are working or should work on the project right now. So i need a new column like a currently working resource or task or whatever.

But i can´t find such a column n the manage views to add it for this view.

We might define a custom field like and care about the current status of this field, and add this field to the view, but we don´t want to care about manually.

Master project with subprojects and interaction with PWA

We have a large project that we need to break into sub projects and have those under a Master Project.  We are new to Project Server 2010 and Project Professional 2010.  My questions are...

1.  I assume you have to do all of the actual creation of the sub projects and master project within project pro.... the person having the master project would have to insert them, etc. as sub projects...correct?

2.  If the person owning the master project publishes it to project server, will all of the people that have tasks they need to work, regardless of whether the task is a part of a sub project or the top level master project, still see their tasks show up and can work them in My Work without any knowledge they are a part of a master or sub project?

3.  Can the owners of the sub projects update and publish to PWA of each sub project or does the person owning the master project always have to do the publish?

Status Manager and Project Owner same permissions to edit and delete?

I understand the role of Status Manager with respect to PWA and task approvals. I don't understand why the same delete and edit permissions are granted to Status Managers and Project Owners, especially the delete permission.  I'm hoping there is a way to allow only Project Owners to delete their files, not others that may be populated as Status Managers in the file.  Thank you.

Approvals grid in PWA 2013 receives an exception for a user

I have a user that is no longer able to view their approvals from PWA 2013.  They are getting a General Unhandled Exception error instead.  Nothing is writing to the queue or the ULS logs when this occurs.  The message they are getting on the screen is "General Unhandled Exception in _Statusing.ReadStatusApprovalsForProjectForGridJson_".  Does anyone know how to fix this problem or identify what is causing it to occur?  There is no custom development at this time and everything is Out of the Box.  Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Task Level Enterprise Fields and performance (PS2010)

This is for Project Server 2010.

I understand that Task level enterprise fields can affect overall system performance.

Project Server performance is reduced if there are very many enterprise custom fields. Project Server is tested for acceptable performance with up to 1,000 custom fields.

Is this referring to project level enterprise fields, task level enterprise fields or both?

Is there guidance on how many task level vs. project level fields can be used before performance will suffer?

Edit: Also, does a task level enterprise field adversely affect the performance of a project that does not surface that field?

Multiple Windows

I use 2 monitors, my laptop and an extra monitor. I want to have 2 separate instances of MS Project (2010) open, one in each monitor, so I can view both together. I've been unable to achieve this. Anyone know how?

 

Project Details are not fetched from Project Server Online Version

In the Project Server Online Version, When trying to fetch the Project Details with the below endpoint - (https://go2g.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa/_api/ProjectServer/Projects) with required header details, We ended up with the below exception.

Resource capacity settings more than 36 months

Hi,

In the operational policies > additional server settings I can only set the resource capacity range settings 1 - 36 months.

is there a solution to change this?

Maybe with an add-on?

Hi, can someone explain the Resource Capacity Settings aspect of the Month behind setting?   If I have it set to 1 month only what does it show and what does it Not show?  If I have a resource which started in Jan 2016 will their capacity still show at 100% for Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun and into the future or will it only show 100% from June onwards ie from one month ago?

Project Online Default Project Center View Deleted

We are using Project Online and the default Project Center view was deleted by accident.   No users are able to access Project Center now, it just displays "Loading" and never completes the process.    Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you fix it?
